Benefits of utilizing a retainer

If you plan to utilize our services over the course of several months, you may wish to establish a retainer with us; doing so will reap the following benefits:

SOHO Advantage

If you are a one to three-person company that has been in business for 5 years or less, you are entitled to a 10% discount on all services we provide with a quarter hour billing minimum. This benefit is not cumulative with any of the retainer benefits.

General Notes

  • A written proposal/quote is available upon request. Depending on the nature of the project we can work with fixed investments, and investments not to exceed a given amount.
  • None of the services listed includes hardware or any software utilized to provide or benefit from the service.
  • None of the rates reflects Pennsylvania sales tax; all of the services we provide are taxable within the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Any service whose known or estimated value exceeds $499 requires a written contract and a 40% deposit with milestone payments, and payment upon completion. We require a deposit equal to the cost of services and product we do not provide. We also reserve the right to ask for a signed contract under any circumstances.
  • All web hosting services require payment for three months up front, along with a written contract; minimum contract duration is for three months.
  • Unless specified, hourly rates require a one hour minimum; we bill on quarter hour increments after the minimum billing time has been met.
  • Any billing handled outside of deposits, milestone payments, and completion payments are due net fifteen.
  • Charges for toll telephone calls and postage is billed at cost.
  • PMP Computer Solutions retains the copyright to all software created in any programming project, including Intranet and Intranet, unless specific arrangements and considerations are made prior to the start of the project.

Service Specific Footnotes

1 Application specifications include all of the necessary language-independent materials – system level flow charts, application level flow charts, system design guidelines, and application design guidelines – for any programmer to utilize in the coding, testing, and implementation of an application.
2 Current languages supported include Clarion, Clipper, COBOL, Delphi, Pascal, UniBasic, and Visual Basic for Windows. Current platforms supported include Windows 3.xx, 95, NT, and Unix. Application specifications must be provided. We make use of R.A.D. language features to speed development time.
3 We can consult with you in the following areas: computer languages, computer hardware, groupware, Intranet, Internet, operating systems, and porting in the spheres of selection, implementation, and utilization.
4 Conversions/porting can be accomplished for the following platforms: Windows 3.xx, 95, NT, and Unix. Porting of applications requires either direct access to the source code or complete application specifications; porting of data requires direct access to the data to be ported.
5 One page is considered 8.5" x 14" or less. Digital pictures, image editing, OCR cleanup, and scanning are not included.
6 Hosting services do not provide dial-up capability; any maintenance to the site must be done via FTP, FrontPage, or similar product capable of providing FTP services.
   Personal Plan - 5MB storage, 125MB-transfer limit (no FTP or F.P).
   Basic Plan – 20MB storage, 500MB-transfer limit.
   Commerce Plan – 50MB storage, 1000MB-transfer limit, shopping cart, and MSQL database.
7 We are capable of Intranet/Internet programming in Perl, Java, JavaScript, or VBScript.
8 Scanning does not include OCR cleanup or image editing.
9 One page is considered 8.5" x 14" or less. Digital pictures, hosting, image editing, OCR cleanup, programming, and scanning are not included. Static WWW pages can be made interactive with Intranet/Internet Programming.
10 Verification checks the accuracy of all hyperlinks; fixing of hyperlinks (where possible) is extra. Verification of links is done at no cost for all page design, creation, and maintenance services.
11 Since these services can cover a wide area of subtleties, all rates will be based on a task by task basis.
12 Setup includes configuring application, communication, database, file, and print services. None of the network service rates includes installing user applications or the transferring of files.
13 Rush service fees do not apply when dealing with contractually schedule projects; we reserve the right to refuse any request for a rushed service.
14 Spreadsheet software supported is Lotus or Excel for Windows; VBA will be used in Excel 5+.
15 We provide on-site training in all of the Microsoft Office Professional products, Windows as well as any application we develop.
16 Travel is based on the current local of the nearest technician or Womelsdorf (whichever is closer).
17 Services and products we do not provide are delivered at cost plus 10%.

Glossary of terms

Term Definition
Bandwidth --- WWW The amount of data (usually in bytes) that can be transmitted (downloaded) monthly before additional charges take place.
Conversion (Porting) Taking an application and its data and moving it to a different platform or format.
Custom Application Software that provides functionality not available by off-the-shelf software programs.
Dial-up --- WWW An "on ramp" to the Internet; the service which allows one to "dial" into the Internet through their communication lines.
Digital picture A photograph stored in a format recognizable and useable by computers.
Document --- WWW Any file (graphical, multimedia, or textual) on the World Wide Web.
Domain Name Moniker; simple way to specify the address/URL of a web site.
Graphic Any picture or font that must remain in binary format in order to be used.
Hosting --- WWW The storage of WWW documents in a fashion accessible by WWW browsers. Hosting services can be independent of dial-up services.
HTML Hypertext Markup Language; the language used to create and maintain World Wide Web pages.
Image Editing Adjusting the quality, features, color, shape, or size of an image.
Interactive Site/Page Site or documents that can be automatically updated or provide a measure of interaction with the reader.
Intranet An internal version of the Internet.
Macros A series of commands, usually transparent to the user, that executes a given task that is repetitive in nature.
Mixed O.S. Solutions Mixed operating system solutions provides the ability for applications, operating systems, and hardware that do not normally interact with one another to communicate and interact.
OCR Optical character recognition. The software utilizes to convert scanned text from a graphical format to a textual (word processing) format.
OCR Cleanup The act of spelling checking and correcting errors that occur during the OCR process.
R.A.D. Rapid Application Development. Tools, utilities, or built-in language features that can greatly speed up the development of an application.
SOHO Small Office/Home Office.
Specifications – Application The documentation (blue prints) necessary for a programmer to start developing (coding and testing) an application.
Static Site/Page Site or documents that only change when manually updated; documents that provide no means of interacting with the reader.
URL Universal Resource Locator; means of proving a street address of an Intranet/Internet document.
VBA Visual Basic for Applications; a program scripting language that replaces macros.
WWW World Wide Web.
WWW Browser An application capable of viewing documents on the World Wide Web.
