The following are answers to common questions in the Microsoft FrontPage Client Newsgroup:

If you want to copy a web to one of our servers you can use the copy web function in the FrontPage Explorer.

One of the things that seems to confuse people is that on your machine, your web site should reside in the web. If it doesn't, when you copy it to our system, you web site will be in www.whatever.com/webname/. You want it to be www.whatever.com/index.html.

  1. Open your local web
  2. Select copy web from the Explorer File menu.
  3. It will ask you for the destination web server. You will enter the IP address of your domain. If you do not know the IP address, you can try www.whatever.com. If the InterNIC has been updated it will resolve the IP address.
  4. Click on Copy Child Webs and then OK.

It should copy now.

Once the copy has completed it will tell you if it worked or not. Now you can close your local web in the Explorer and connect to your site on our server. You do this by clicking on Open Web from the File menu and typing in your IP address in for the web name.

If you have any problems with copy web, please contact me. I guess I'm the expert at this now.
