The following are answers to common questions in the Microsoft
FrontPage Client Newsgroup:
Unable to connect to FrontPage Editor
Here are methods that worked:
- Uninstall fp97
- Reboot
- Run regedit, make copy of entire registry.
- Locate both HKEY...\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage
branches and delete them
- Find ole2.reg in either c:\windows or
c:\windows\system and double-click on it.
- Reboot
- Install Fp97
I also had to do a couple other things:
- Remove every reference to FP97 in the registry
(not just the two keys)
- Install DCOM95 Install on the C: drive (I was
trying to move to E: when this all started)
You can download DCOM95 at:http://www.microsoft.com/oledev/olemkt/oledcom/dcom95.htm
- Remove FrontPage through the Control Panel
Add\Remove programs.
- Delete any files containing the string
"fp20*.dll".
- Rename both msvcrt40.dll, and mfc40.dll.
- Reinstall FrontPage.
If this fails to fix the problem download the OLE
update for Windows 95. To download the fix browsing to http://www.microsoft.com/kb/articles/q139/4/32.htm.
You'll want to download the file "oelupd.exe".
